Data Science at School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia is united by a research interest in the theoretical, statistical and algorithmic domain of data science and big data analytics. The goal of Data Science research is to build systems and algorithms to extract knowledge, find patterns, generate insights and predictions from diverse data for various applications and visualization.
Since 1993, the members of the Special Interest Group (SIG) of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have been exploring the field of artificial intelligent research. The SIG has since then been transformed into several focused research areas where one the establishments is the UUM Data Science Research Laboratory (DSRL) in 2016. The UUM DSRL researchers currently engage in a broad domain related data science technology and development issues. DSRL establishes and promotes research of importance to the evolution of the data science technologies by creating, conducting and collaborating focused research on topics related to the domain. Data Science Research Laboratory (DSRL) is focusing on research and education at the School of Computing, UUM that formed to facilitate and nurture data-intensive science. We are building a community centeredwith knowledge and talented data science fellows and senior fellows from across campus and are leading the data science revolution within their disciplines.
