The School of Computing (SOC) Universiti Utara Malaysia organised an Industries-Academia Round Table Discussion (RTD) on 19 December 2022 at the school’s main meeting room, BMU. The purpose of the programme was to gather industry feedback on the required knowledge and skills that graduates must have to prepare them for the job market in computing. The RTD was chaired by Prof. Ts. Azham Hussain, the SOC Dean. The other panellists involved in the program were Dato’ Ts. Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab, the CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia, and Mr Iskandar Iskak, the Director of Education Market, TM One. The SOC management team and the chair of school committees also attended the programme.

The RTD managed to identify the areas that the university should focus on increasing graduate employability and the programme’s relevance to the computing job market. Further, SOC could also focus on short-term certification for computing professional skills as a value added to the fundamental knowledge they obtained while undergoing the academic programmes offered by SOC.
