EXCELLENCE AWARDS CELEBRATE STAFF AND STUDENTS’ SUCCESS

SOC ONLINE: For the first time ever, two special events, the Dean’s List Award and the SOC Excellence Award 2017 were celebrated together on 16 May to acknowledge and rewards the performance of the SOC students and staff. The main aim of this ceremony is to motivate students to achieve and maintain good grades in their studies apart from appreciating contribution and achievement of the school staff members. It is also a way of saying thank you and celebrating teacher’s day involving all academic staff. A total of 89 students received the Dean’s List Award; this includes 7 four flat recipients and 6 students who achieved the CGPA of 3.9.

The staff awards were given to appreciate the excellences of 2016 performance, in various categories such as in teaching and learning as well as research and publication. These include Best Teaching, Best Research, Popular Lecturer, Young Researcher, Prolific Writer and ‘Sedia Berkhidmat’ (Ready to Serve) awards. The school also took an opportunity to celebrate respective staff members who have been contributing to the school’s success for 25 years and above, apart from appreciating its former staff members who have paid some duties in the school or other departments in 2016.

The school Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huda Hj. Ibrahim started the ceremony with a welcoming and congratulating speech. In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huda congratulated and encouraged the students to achieve greater academic achievements, apart from expressing her gratitude to SOC lecturers and supporting staff for their engaging and ongoing effort towards supporting students’ excellence. The students were also encouraged to keep on improving their CGPA every semester in aiming a first class degree of CGPA 3.67 and above. The award giving ceremony was continued with the award of certificate and souvenir to each of the award recipient. The ceremony was attended by the SOC management team and representatives of lecturers and administration staff, and students.
