BRECIL PROJECT AS PLATFORM FOR UUM TO COLLABORATE WITH EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES
UUM made another great history when the university becomes part of a consortium that was awarded the ERASMUS + KA2 CBHE grant under the European Union. Intended for a project known as Building Social Research Capacities in Higher Education Institutions in Lao PDR (BRECIL), the grant is led by Asia-Europe Institute (AEI) which is hosted by University of Malaya. Other partners engaged with this project comprises Universiti Utara Malaysia, University of Gothernberg (Sweeden), University of Groningen (Netherlands), University of Applied Linguistics/SDI (Munich), National University of Laos and Souphanouvong University. The aims of the project are to build research capacity in Laos universities and to innovate new research development through ICT, besides to enhance research governance in Malaysia and Laos. More importantly, the project will be able to expand the knowledge about the economy agenda and build a higher education relation which links Europe and Asia countries. This will be achieved by supporting the assimilation knowledge between the Europe and Asean partners to address the issues of research, competitiveness and cooperation. This project is being carried out for three years starting from October 2017 until October 2020. The BRECIL’s kick-off meeting was held in National University of Laos from 4 -6th April 2018, which was attended by Prof. Dr. Huda Hj. Ibrahim, Assoc.
