Convo Video Contest 2019

Overview

UUM Convocation 2019 will be held soon.

The Power of Alumni video contest is put on by the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia to help alumni, staff, and students promote alumni role for the education system.

Participants are encouraged to submit, original, three-minute videos about the current achievements of the alumni(s) and create potential relationship between alumni and education system (e.g. referral for courses, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), help alumni find jobs, marketing, and sharing best experience) that can be shared on the convocation event and social media.

The best place teams get cash prizes worth RM2,000, funded by the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Theme

Alumni, Staff, and students can submit videos that:

  1. show the current achievements of the alumni
  2. show how to create potential relationship between alumni and education system
  3. focus on any alumni workplace they wish to convey

Eligibility

To be eligible:

  • you must be an alumnus, staff or UUM/SOC students
  • your video must not be longer than 3 minutes in length (videos that are longer than 3 minutes will be disqualified)
  • your video must be in MPEG format and HD quality

Deadline

The contest closes on August 31, 2019, at 11:59 p.m.

How to enter

  1. Download the Contest Entry Form, and fill in all of the required information
  2. Upload your video to Vimeo (free) and include the video URL on the entry form
  1. After the form has been completed and signed, send it to us by:
    • scanning and emailing the entry form to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and including:
      • the name of your video in the subject line
      • the name of your school, the email addresses of all members of your video submission team and a direct link to your video in the body of the email

Prizes

Winner: RM2000 for the entrant(s)

Selection process

Videos that meet all eligibility requirements will be judged by a panel of judges chosen by the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Videos will be judged on:

  • 20% Creativity
  • 20% Impact and persuasiveness
  • 30% Overall presentation of workplace information
  • 30% Technical quality

The judges decisions are final.
